Ladies and Gentlemen,
As you may know, one of the major goals of Baloogan Campaign is to run a global MBX utilising Command.
What is an MBX, you may ask?
Simply, it is a simulated campaign involving two teams of players acting as the civil leaders, generals and admirals of respective hostile nations - making the important strategic and tactical decisions as a given wargaming scenario is played out. Our own, private, little war, if you will, and Command is arguably the perfect medium for playing this out.
For a good example of what an MBX would look like, please have a look at the Global Thunder MBX documented here: .
Over the past few months Bal and others attempted to put together such an exercise using Geoscape. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that it was a great deal of work putting together the software component, as well as organising people to help.
What I am now proposing is that this project is not only feasible, but it would be demonstrating the enormous potential that Command holds as a wargame, and we as the community that has grown up around it. So:
The Objectives
- To hold an initial 'practice' MBX beginning at the end of 2015.
This would involve brainstorming a basic scenario where BLUFOR and REDFOR could play off, whilst practicing the vital team communication and intelligence sharing components that are vital for this sort of exercise. We would hopefully be able to test and integrate Geoscape operating at a strategic level with actual combat actions occuring within Command using Bal's Joint Command software.
- If this is successful, to hold a proper, fully-realised and bespoke MBX 12 months later.
This is where things get really interesting, building upon what we've learned and where we would come up with a realistic and (hopefully) large-scale scenario involving political intrigue, intelligence and counter-intelligence ops, cyberwarfare - the works. This would then, ideally, lead on to potential future MBXs in the coming years.
What We Need
To accomplish this, we are going to need a lot of help from people willing to volunteer time or expertise to the cause, as well as people willing to game it out on one of the teams. At the moment while people with software development skills would be handy, we primarily need enthusiastic people who can just give a bit of their time to help out with the general brainstorming and initial project planning.
If you would be interested, please let me know either by leaving a message here, PMing Bal or myself, or talking to us on the Baloogan Campaign Chat. Cheers!
