OOB update volunteer

Postby starlifter99 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 5:23 pm

Hi All,
First off, GREAT site. I am unfortunately unable to play Command as I do not have a computer capable of running the game. I do however have an interest in OOB and military equipment.

I am looking for permission to be volunteer in updating and adding OOB's your wiki page. I have attempted to update regular wikipedia pages, but found it very time consuming considering various individuals like to update your work without providing any real reference or sources. I only provide readily available information with sources to back up my data.

I noticed that your equipment data is quite extensive, so I will leave that to the professionals.

Thanks,
Randy

I warmly and happily grant permission :D

Its been a joy to watch as these pages sprung up with contributions from volunteers over the nearly 2 years the wiki has been in operation

Thank you for granting permission.
I have been reviewing some of the OOB's and noticed a few things, mainly that they currently include aircraft numbers. Typically within the U.S. this is privileged information and in very rare cases are you able to find exact numbers assigned to a particular squadron readily available on the internet. Most U.S. squadrons do not have a set number of aircraft assigned especially in the case of mobility (cargo, tanker) aircraft and some bomber, RPA units. The aircraft are owned by the wing or group and shared among the different "flying" squadrons. For this reason any new units that I add WILL NOT include specific aircraft numbers. I will however include particular equipped/operated type. For simulation purposes any numbers that have already been added I will not delete, but add "est."
My definition of "Equipped" is aircraft that are physically assigned to a particular unit, and "Operate" means that the unit does not physically own the aircraft but provide aircrew members only.
Thanks,
Randy

Here is the completed United States Coast Guard OOB. If anyone has any recommendations, please fell free to speak up.

Looks really good! Thanks so much for your efforts.

I've added it to the Wiki's front page, which can be edited (like most other pages), though the main page is split into two halves: http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/index. ... Page_Right this link goes to the 'right hand side' of the wiki's front page.

One thing that we will do at some point in the future (possibly a year or two from now) is to rename "United_States_Coast_Guard_OOB_Current" to "United_States_Coast_Guard_OOB_2015" and turn "United_States_Coast_Guard_OOB_Current" into a link to "United_States_Coast_Guard_OOB_2015".

Additional things to add are pictures, maps and links to the equipment database; an example of this would be the USN page http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/index. ... OB_Current
