Standard vs Metric

Postby aotino » Thu Feb 18, 2016 4:19 pm

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the Forum and want to get started with Command. First, I would like to know if it's possible to read the Command's Units List with Standard measurements, and not Metric? Is there an option for that? Secondly, and this may not be the forum for this question, but what is the best way of purchasing the game, and the easiest and most efficient way to get caught up with all the patches and updates. (I actually prefer to buy a physical copy of the game - call me old-fashion!) I appreciate any help, and am very excited to begin partaking in what I anticipate is a very satisfying simulation.

Cheers,
Alan

Hi aotino,

1) In game there is a choice between metric and standard/US/imperial units

2) I'd say the best way to purchase command would be through steam, as steam would automatically update your copy.

However Matrix Games does sell a physical copy of command:

Where to buy physical copy of command: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/483 ... ar.Edition

cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply!

So when I am in the game and referring to the database, I can view the info with Standard measurements. Cool! Is there a way of viewing the Baloogan Command Units List as well in Standard?

Also, in your suggestion for purchase, is Steam overall easier and as stable a game platform as downloading from a CD? And if I decided to buy the physical copy, is it a complicated endeavor to update? I'm not the most savvy when it comes to wending my way thru complicated downloads etc.

Best, Alan

I haven't added any conversions yet to the online database viewer, so no there isn't a way (yet). I prefer standard measurements myself.

Steam is overall easier because it handles updating for you. Main reason to not use steam would be if you have a limited internet connection.

Its not complicated to update if you did buy the physical copy, if you have ever bought any other matrix game the process would be the same.

Once again, thanks for the quick reply! This is exactly the info I was looking for, so I really appreciate the clear explanations! I have a lot of experience with previous Matrix games, but I must say the Steam option is very attractive for its simplicity. Thanks again so very much!
All my best,
Alan
