Databases

Postby mkjhartmann » Sat Oct 04, 2014 2:46 am

Hi there,

thanks for all your great work. I have been trying to get my mind around these games since the first Harpoon, with very limited success.

I know Harpoon at DB wars, and I see that there are two DBs for Command. I am not sure I understand, do they compete or complement each other. Seems like you can install both, but am not sure if I am creating issues for myself.

A quick explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

They complement each other. CWDB covers 1946-1979 and DB3000 covers 1980-2015+. In many cases the unit data has two copies, eg DB3000 has quite a few units pre 1980 so scenarios in 1980 make sense. For example both CWDB and DB3000 have F-14s from the late 1970s.

Hi,Baloogan,
I am having trouble installing images in the game (which I bought through steam).
I copied the DB3000 zip. files into steamapps.../DB program and unzipped the CWDB and DB3000 files there, but I still have no images in the databases.
Can you tell me what I have not, or should have done??!!
I have not deleted any files and I'm afraid I'm computer illiterate.Your help would be deeply appreciated.Thank you
in advance ,DonR

Check to make sure the files are in the right spot. For example this is a correct path for an image:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\Images\DB3000\aicraft_1004.jpg"

Succes!!! I deleted my first tries (notCWDB) and downloaded from the mirror site and extracted to the DB Images folder, voila!! I could not have figured it out without your guidance.
I wanted images of this database since I had no idea of what they looked like. All my limited experience has been with WW2 campaigns and battles since I was a small boy during the Blitz and so on.
Again thank you so much. DonR

Can I ask a quick question around databases?

I understand there are two databases one for pre 1980 and one post 1980.

I was wondering I use the import groups from a file function, its really handy, there are loads of radars, and airfields already made up for you to build a scenario. My problem is a lot of the bases that I want to use are in the pre-1980 database and they cant be used in a post one. Is there a way around this, or is there something the makers could incorporate in a future update to allow this?

BTW is this the best place to make suggestions for addtions I would like to see in the game as I have a few to say the least lol

Kind Regards
