Confirmed by the President of the Republic François Hollande yesterday night, this is an important sales for French defense industry. The contract to supply Egypt with one , to be modified by DCNS (eg. by removing the Sylver A70 VLS cells as the is not part of the deal) and 24 with an option for 12 more, for a price estimated to €5.2 billion, will be officialy signed this 16th of February at Cairo by the Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian.

As the FREMM have to be dlivered by the end of this summer, it is the D651 Normandie ship that will be handed over to the Egyptian Navy instead of being delivered to the .
