"The final sections of the UK Royal Navy's second Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, have arrived at Babcock Rosyth Facilities from Birkenhead.
Built by Cammell Laird shipyard, Centre Block 4 is the longest of the upper sections of hull of the latest UK warship being constructed by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance.
The sections consist of two parts, including rings C and D, which feature a mixture of aviation workshops, mission system compartments and training rooms.
HMS Prince of Wales delivery director Angus Holt said: "It's always an impressive sight when these massive blocks sail under the Forth Bridges on their way to Rosyth.
"We now have just two more blocks under construction elsewhere in the UK at our Glasgow shipyard - so this really is a turning point where we move from the construction phase into final assembly."
The 1,600t sections of the carrier will be fitted onto the top of Lower Block 4 in four sections using the largest lift capacity crane, Goliath.
In May, HMS Prince of Wales was successfully installed with the bow section, marking the outward completion of its forward section.
The 620t block was raised using a Goliath crane and placed on the front of the ship in the dry dock.
Construction of the HMS Prince of Wales is scheduled for completion in July 2016.
The Prince of Wales will begin sea trials in January 2019, followed by acceptance in August of the same year.
The navy is expected to begin sea trials for the first Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, in August next year, followed by commissioning in May 2017." - Naval -Technology.com
